OFW in Qatar maltreated and threatened by employer, cries for help

The social media has become a very effective platform of communication, networking, interaction, and now a means of reaching out to people and organizations through the sharing of posts.

Through shared posts, the netizens get to convey their messages to their destinations million miles away from them. Through social media, many missing people have been found and reunited with their families and many others have been rescued from their devastating situations.

Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who suffer from their employers are mostly the subjects of shared posts.  Their friends or families share their stories with the purpose of reaching the people and agencies who can help them get rid of their difficult situations.

Just lately, a concerned netizen, Facebook user Tristan Josef Mangali posted on their wall on May 5 about a fellow OFW whom they saw at Safari Mall.  It was not mentionioned where Safari Mall is but the address of the OFW they met who was asking for help suggested that the mall must be in Qatar.

The OFW was identified as Aida Insung in Mangali’s post.  She was asking for help because according to her she, together with another helper Kirimai, an Sri Lankan, are being physically abused by their employer.

Insung gave her address to Mangali so that she may be located easier for rescue.  The address is at Zone 56, house # 30, street 135 Ain Khalid DOHA, QATAR.

Mangali also mentioned in their post that a certain Margie saw Aida Insung who was cowering in fear in one corner of the mall.  Insung was very scared because her employers said that they are going to put her to jail.

Mangali said in their post though that they were not able to get more information from Insung because she was crying and could not speak.

Let us share this as many as we can so that it may reach the people, officials and agencies who are capable to help her. – LMI
