The social media has become a very useful tool for everyone to spread news and it has also become an instrument to reach out to people for help. Many overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) are using the social media especially Facebook to as for help whenever they are maltreated and abused by their employers.
These problems reach the concerned people or agencies through sharing of posts until they go viral, heard, and addressed by concerned officials and agencies. Many cases have been successful because of this kind of sharing of posts.
Another OFW in the person of Helen Guzman, her name on Facebook, has started posting about her condition in her work under her abusive employers in Saudi Arabia.
In her latest posts, Guzman was asking her agency to help her because her employers have smashed her using a whip “latigo” for no reason as she claimed. She also said that her employers were accusing her of many things she did not really commit. Below are photos that show her bruises allegedly from whipping.
Guzman just wants to go home to the Philippines and to finally end up her sufferings. A certain Lotchie Nicor Mendoza (her name on Facebook) has recently reposted about Guzman’s condition and pleading that she may be rescued in the soonest possible time. Mendoza said she does not want to talk anything negative but only wishes that her friend be rescued and her going back home to the Philippines be arranged soon.
In her post on March 17, Guzman was pleading her agency to rescue her because she claimed that she could not endure anymore her employers’ bad treatment to her. She claimed that her employers are saying she is a liar and that she had been allegedly putting “stuffs” to their food that may allegedly cause them diseases or maybe poisoning.
