After the deployment ban in sending Filipino workers to work in Kuwait, approximately 250,000 Overseas Filipino Workers will lose jobs. Not only that, 250,000 families will be affected if these OFWs will not be able to find a supplement to the jobs they will lose.
To help these OFWs, the Department of Labor and Employment, as well as President Rodrigo Duterte, are devising ways on how they can help.

Meeting With the Ambassador
President Rodrigo Duterte will be meeting with Kuwait Ambassador to the Philippines Musaed Saleh Althwaikh to discuss the suspension of deployment to Kuwait today, February 7. This is to evaluate the conflicting reports from Kuwait.
During the meeting, the ambassador and the president may also discuss the long-delayed signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) that will give Filipino workers greater protection in Kuwait.
Baka pag-usapan nila yung proposed memorandum of agreement. Baka mag commit si ambassador ng pipirmahan na.
Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III also said that they are evaluating the conflicting reports from the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Kuwait Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the condition of OFWs in Kuwait.

Helping OFWs Secure Jobs
The government of the Philippines is also planning to conduct job fairs in Saudi Arabia and Qatar to persuade Filipinos in the Middle East to go back to the Philippines to work.
The Department of Education is in need of 2,000 teachers while former Senator and real estate magnate Manny Villar is looking for 18,000 skilled workers.
Working in the country would mean more time with the worker’s family and loved ones. This might also help stop the abuse that our fellow Filipinos are experiencing in the Middle East.
