Cypriot serial killer admits killing 3 Filipina OFWs and other foreign women

The world is shocked with the confession of Cypriot army captain Nikos Metaxas, aged 35, who murdered three women whose bodies were found in an abandoned mine shaft in Cyprus. Cypriot authorities were scouring the lakes for the remains of three women and a girl dumped by the confessed serial killer.

According to police reports, the suspect has admitted to killing seven foreign women and underage girls on the Mediterranean holiday island.

Metaxas admitted that he murdered Romanian national Livia Florentina Bunea, aged 36, and her eight-year-old daughter Elena Natalia in September 2016.

He also confessed to the police that one of the bodies of those he killed was buried in the village of Orounda.

The police found the body of a slain Filipina Mary Rose Tiburcio, 38, whose identity was confirmed by DNA tests. Her body was naked, bound and wrapped in white sheet.  The serial killer also confessed that he killed Tiburcio’s young daughter by disposing her body at Xiliatos reservoir.

Another female corpse was recovered from the same mine in Mitseros and identified as a Filipina, Arian Palanas Lozano, aged 28, who was last seen on 21 July 2018.

With the confession of Metaxas, the police are now investigating other cases of missing women who might be his other victims, like a 30-year-old Filipina Maricar Valdez Arquiola, who was missing since December 13, 2017.

The confessed serial killer admitted that he met the Filipinas, through Badoo, an online dating site.

There are now speculations that this killer may have killed up to 30 foreign women after police had discovered that he had many contacts with foreign women whom he had met on dating sites. Relevant to this, the Limassol Intercultural Council has called for the re-investigation of the cases of missing foreign women whose disappearances were thought that they have already left the country but no concrete evidences of their departure was recorded. – LMI
