If you really want something, you can always make a way; if you do not want it, you give endless reasons. This is a very popular saying that people use to describe how hard they work to get something they want. But if they do not care and they do not want it, they will just shrug their shoulders and give many alibis.
This is seemingly what Maria Cecilia Labe, 29 years old, working as a hair assistant in a hair salon in Abu Dhabi, is behaving against her husband, Ian Labe, 37 years old, a security guard in Abu Dhabi.
Ian went to Raffy Tulfo to ask his help to assist him to talk to his wife Maria Cecilia to possibly settle their misunderstanding and help Ian financially for he is currently in the Philippines unemployed.
He told Raffy Tulfo that he worked as a security guard in Abu Dhabi and helped his wife Maria Cecilia to go to Abu Dhabi to work. They lived together while in Abu Dhabi and according to Ian he was the one paying for their rent and spending for their needs.
He finished his contract and went back to the Philippines. For any OFW like Ian, while they are in the Philippines they are jobless and, so, he asked Raffy if he could help him talk to his wife to help him because he is hard up financially.
His wife, Maria Cecilia, broke up with him and made it clear to Tulfo that she is not going to reconcile with his husband anymore. When Tulfo asked her why she broke up with Ian, she said that her husband has “something” and he was hurting her physically, which Ian denied.
By “something”, Maria Cecilia meant that Ian was having a mental disorder and is no longer capable to maintain a healthy relationship.
Ian denied all his wife’s allegations and told Tulfo that his wife wanted to be free from him because of a third party involved. He said that he had been cheated on by his wife many times and his wife’s family and relatives are even the witnesses to her illegal affairs.
Tulfo then talked to Maria Cecilia over the phone and explained to her that anything they acquire, money or property, are their conjugal property since they are still married and not annulled yet. Tulfo asked her to help her husband financially until he can get a job and stand on his own feet again.
Ian disclosed that while he was working he gave all his salary to Maria Cecilia. He has evidences of all his remittances to her.
Maria Cecilia agreed to help him by sending him money monthly but Tulfo stressed that this will only last until Ian finds a job.
To make sure that Ian is fit for work and he is not suffering from any mental disorder as Maria Cecilia alleged, Tulfo had him checked by a psychologist and a psychiatrist.
It was found in the tests that he has no mental, neurological and developmental disorders. His observing and applying logical reasoning are normal and he is capable of problem solving and critical thinking.
He is emotionally and mentally stable with no indications of aggression, depression, schizophrenia, and paranoia. The doctors declared that Ian Labe is very normal and he is fit for work.
Tulfo team investigated if Maria Cecilia had sent Ian money since their agreement at Tulfo’s. They confirmed that she sent him 1,000 pesos only. Ian is determined to file legal charges against his wife for not doing what they have agreed upon. – LMI
