We are now hearing good news of our fellow Overseas Filipino Workers happily going home to their families in the Philippines from Kuwait amid the employment ban issued by the Department of Labor and Employment as mandated by President Duterte. With the help of the government and airlines like Cebu Pacific, they are now going back to their families safely.
After the cases of several Filipinos physically, mentally, and sexually abused by their employers, as well as the unexplained deaths of several OFWs, add to that the latest news about the lifeless OFW found in a freezer, we cannot help but pity and cry with them too.
However, not all of our kababayans will be coming home happily to their families. We still have some of them who are asking help to be saved from their abusive employers.
Two Domestic Helpers Pleading for Help
There are two domestic helpers in Kuwait who are crying for help. One of them is showing a fresh wound that seems to be hit by a large straight object like a pole.
According to the OFW named Cristy Jean Lacuit, 25 years old, and from Barangay Gaga, Was, Lanao Del Sur, her employer just hit her the night before without saying anything, since they are not talking to each other. She was also surprised when she received the lashes from her employer.
Threats From the Employer
The domestic helper also added that if she will escape, the employer will go to the police and issue theft cases against her.
Meanwhile, the other domestic helper, who was not named, was also pleading because their employer will physically abuse her as well if the other helper will escape.
With our fellow kababayans, especially those working as a domestic helper, is now being saved by our government, hopefully, these two OFWs will also go back to their families safe.
