An Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) recorded a video on how she got sexually abused by her employer. Identified as Lilibeth Duenas Languitan, the said video went viral on the internet after thousands of netizens watched how her employer forcefully hugged and kissed her.

Lilibeth secretly put her phone in a secret place so she can record the evidence proving the abusive nature of her employer. This video was shared by thousands of netizens who urged the Duterte Administration to rescue the OFW immediately.

The Rescue

After the said video went viral, a netizen by the name of Drei Natalie shared the good news that Lilibeth is finally rescued.

Arribas and other embassy staff for their prompt actions in coordinating with Saudi authorities to make the pull-out as smoothly and as effectively as possible.

The Arrest

After the rescue of Lilibeth, a newspaper in Saudi reported that necessary investigations were already conducted and the suspect is already arrested. According to SABQ News, the culprit is an Egyptian and is a relative of the employer.

Although there is lack of information regarding when the sexual harassment started, the General Prosecution Branch of Riyadh is monitoring the case closely based on penal procedures.

What is the punishment for sexual abuse in Saudi Arabia?

According to Arab News, those who convicted of committing sexual harassment in Saudi Arabia will serve up to five years in prison or incur fines of up to SR500,000 (6,730,000 PHP) or both.
