This is a sad news to the family of one overseas Filipino worker (OFW), a domestic helper in Hong Kong who was found dead by her employer on her bed in the morning of August 19.
The deceased was identified as Mylin Delizo, 48, from San Jose City, Philippines. Her employers reported they found her lifeless on the sofa in the living room where she was sleeping.
Delizo’s employers reported to the police that they found her dead at around 7 A.M. They said she was unresponsive when they were waking her up. She was lying on the living room sofa. They called the police and an ambulance was sent to take her to a hospital but the crew already declared her dead.
An interview with her employers disclosed that they suspected Delizo must have died of cancer for they have noticed lately that her hair was falling and she got thinner and thinner. However, this is just speculation and the real cause of her death will be known only after an autopsy is performed on her.
Danny Baldon of the Consulate’s assistance to nationals section said the police are still waiting for the request of Delizo’s family to conduct an autopsy on her to rule out the cause of her death.
Delizo, who worked for a family on Lai Chi Kok Road, Kowloon, came to Hong Kong in 1998 and had been supporting her mother, said her nephew Jonathan. She was married but had no children.
Her employers already informed her family in the Philippines. Jonathan, Delizo’s nephew who was interviewed by the police said that upon hearing the tragic news, he went immediately to the Department of Foreign Affairs Regional Office in San Fernando, Pampanga to report the death of her aunt and claim her remains.
Her employers said they know their responsibility and are now working out to repatriate her remains.
