An Overseas Filipino Worker can’t go home to his family in the Philippines yet due to his impending contract with his company in Saudi Arabia.

Some Filipinos are working abroad to obtain a bigger source of income and to support the finances of their family. Their sacrifices are proven worthy as they can give their loved ones and their family a better life.

But in some cases, some OFWs abroad were abused and harassed in the hands of their heartless employers. Some of them reportedly cannot get their monthly salary, some were physically abused, and the worst, they were not given food to eat for several days.

Needs to Pay The Agency

An OFW working in Saudi Arabia shared his experience as well as his plea for help. According to Paul Regalado, he wants to go back to his family to seek further medical attention but his agency is not allowing him to go home unless he will pay them 5,000 Saudi Riyal (equivalent to 69,330 Philippine Pesos).

According to Paul, he already asked help from the government in Saudi Arabia but they did not do anything to assist him with his case. Since he doesn’t have any choice, the only way he can do to go back to the Philippines is to ask financial assistance from other Filipinos.

When he consulted his other Filipino co-workers, they informed him that others are just paying 3,000 Saudi Riyal (41,590 Philippine Pesos) and they’re already allowed by their agencies to go home.

Currently, the OFW doesn’t have any money nor job to finance the amount that the unnamed agency is asking for. He stopped working already because of his asthma and infection in his lungs. He also regularly goes to the hospital for dialysis.
