OFW from Saudi who suffers from mental disorder found loitering at NAIA Terminal 2

Lately, Roldan Alpon, 39 years old, a welder and hails from Negros Occidental, went to Raffy Tulfo to ask for his help to rescue his wife “Eva” (not her real name) who used to work as a domestic helper in Saudi Arabia.

According to Roldan, he received text messages from his wife two months ago that she could not get along well with her employers.  Matters went worse because later on after those text messages, “Eva” told Roldan that if she could not go home immediately, she might get killed in Saudi by her employers.

Since then Roldan was looking for help.  He went to DSWD for assistance but after a month of waiting, the agency did not respond to his cry for help. When someone gave him money to be able to get to Raffy Tulfo to ask for his assistance to repatriate his wife “Eva”, he went immediately to Tulfo and on that same day, Roldan received a text from a kind-hearted person “Marilou” saying that “Eva” was seen loitering around NAIA Terminal 2.

Roldan complains why was he not informed by the recruitment agency that his wife is already coming home so that he could have prepared to meet her upon her arrival so she would not have loitered around the airport.

Raffy Tulfo coordinated the case to DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III and he said that they will investigate on the matter.  The recruitment agency that is responsible over Eva’s security and safety while working overseas is liable for what happened to her and should also be investigated.

Roldan recalled that when he asked the agency’s help to repatriate his wife, they told him that he needed to provide the amount of Php 75,000 to process Eva’s repatriation, which he never provided because he did not have money.

Tulfo called the agency several times but they gave alibis that the person who is responsible to give statements was eating.  Tulfo gave financial assistance to Roldan and Eva as he usually does to people who go to him for help.  – LMI
