It is hard to work in another country. Other people might think that working as an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) is nice because of the salary but the salary and comfort of your family come with a price. Working as an OFW also means being away with your family for several years, in order to put food on the table and send your children to good schools.
The hard work and the sadness of working in another country surely pay off once you see your child walking in the center of the stage to receive his or her diploma or if you can see the properties your family invested while you are working abroad.
However, not all of us are experiencing joy after working abroad. There are also some OFW who had horrendous experiences while working abroad. Some of them were caused by their families while some of these problems were caused by people close to them.
Unfortunate Situation
That is exactly what Ronnie Arguinoso, an OFW from Riyadh, experienced. For all he taught, the money he is saving is for his expenses once he is back. Little did he know that his girlfriend, Mariel Tafalla, is already draining his bank account.
During Raffy Tulfo’s Wanted sa Radyo episode last December 8, Ronnie explained that he asked Mariel to keep his ATM card and bank book, to save money for their wedding, for two years. However, instead of saving up the money, Mariel got all the money and left 50 pesos only.
Mariel denied the allegations and said that Ronnie asked her to withdraw the money and buy food for the family. During the conversation, Ronnie asked Mariel to return the money, but Mariel denied returning the money and said she was already rejected by her family because of what happened.
What Happened to the Money
Raffy asked Mariel what happened to the money that Ronnie was sending, to which she said it was used to renovate Ronnie’s house. However, Ronnie said there was a different funding for the house.
Ronnie also added that Mariel already left their house and went back to their house in Bicol to take care of her sick mother.
Ronnie also revealed that Mariel is already in a relationship with another OFW.
Different Side of the Story
After the conversation, Mariel posted on Facebook saying that she’s happy that she’s already well known. She also said everybody’s angry at her while she is still chilling and laughing at what is happening.
She is, in fact, happy that she already have Ronnie’s money and nothing is going to happen to her since there are no cases that can be filed to her.
Money is indeed the root of all evils. Some people can do anything just to get money.
