Our Overseas Filipino Workers are making a lot of sacrifices abroad. A lot of them are working several jobs to sustain their family and some of them are missing a lot of special events just to put food on the table.

However, we also know that many OFWs are having troubles living abroad. Some of them are experiencing physical and sexual abuse from their employers and their family members while there are others, who, unfortunately, cannot go back to their families.

And one of them is Liezl Trus Hukdong.

What Happened?

Liezl’s niece, Gracel Ann Hukdong, posted a series of gruesome photos on Facebook that went viral. This shows the corpse of a woman covered in bruises and was sliced from the bottom lip down to her navel.

According to Gracel, her aunt served as an OFW in Kuwait. She and her relatives were informed by Liezl’s employer last Decembermber 19 that Liezl died after hanging herself, which they find it hard to believe.

Body Returned to the Country

When the body arrived in the Philippines last January 5, it was immediately brought to the funeral home, where it was discovered that her vital organs were harvested. Her tongue, kidney, brain, lungs, and eyes were removed. The only organs remaining were her intestines.

The documents that came with the body were also dubious in nature. It contained wrong spellings, had no official seal, no doctor’s signature, and license number. There was also no autopsy result.

Liezl went to Kuwait on December 17, 2016, with one of their relatives, Jerchell Bracero Jurial. The last time the family talked to her was last September and they noticed that she deactivated her account in November for no apparent reason. Gracel messaged Jerschell about her aunt and asked for her photos but Jerschell told them that their aunt Liezl is okay.

When asked about Liezl’s death, the family found Jerschell’s retelling inaccurate so they sought help from Liezl’s agency and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration. The agency, Greatworld International Management Inc. had no idea that she had passed and her status in the agency is still active.

The family is now asking: If Liezl really hanged herself, why was her body covered in bruises? If an autopsy is made, is it necessary to have her organs removed?
