No Pay and All Work: A Pinay Domestic Helper in Saudi Arabia Is Sexually Molested by Her Male Employer Too

Experiencing sufferings and hardships may not be something new for a person who is working overseas. Being away from their loved ones with no means to spend special events with them are already considered as a suffering for a person working abroad. However, physical, sexual or mental abuse is a different story.

Hearing stories of physically abused Overseas Filipino Workers is saddening and angering at the same time. With these modern day heroes doing their best to give their families a better and more comfortable life, in the process, they are suffering from the hands of their employers.

Other than physical abuse, some OFWs are suffering a lot more. This is for the case of a Filipino domestic helper in Saudi Arabia named Maricel Tindoc.

Employer Does Not Allow Her To Come Home

In a Facebook post shared by another concerned Pinay OFW named Ocampo Guinto KimberLy Eunice, Maricel is working in Ash Shinan, Saudi Arabia and her contract with her current employer is already finished. However, here are the problems: her employer does not allow her to go back to her family in the Philippines. Plus, her passport is already expired for more than a year and she’s yet to receive her salary for four months.

Although she already reminded her employer about her passport’s expiration several times, the said employer did not do anything for her. The Pinay domestic helper cannot take the workload any longer too. She doesn’t have enough time to rest and sleep since she needs to serve two to three families, especially if a family with seven children are on vacation and she’s the only helper in her employer’s house.

Sexually Abused Too

The domestic helper also added that her male employer is sexually abusing her in a span of five months. There are times when he will kiss and hug her or touch her in different parts of her body.

Maricel can no longer ask help from her agency since it’s already closed since last year. The employer in the contract she signed is different from her current employer as well.
