Medical News Today wrote that sexual addiction is a condition in which an individual cannot manage their sexual behavior. Persistent sexual thoughts affect their ability to work, maintain relationships, and fulfill their daily activities.
Other terms for sexual addiction are sexual dependency, hypersexuality, and compulsive sexual behavior. It is also known as nymphomania in females and satyriasis in men.
While sexual addiction shares some features with substance addiction, the person is addicted to an activity, not a substance. Treatment may help, but without treatment, it may get worse.
This may be the case of some men who are always seeking for sexual gratification which often times lead them to rape innocent girls and women like one Filipino did to few teenagers in Canada recently.
GMA News wrote that one Filipino in Toronto, Canada was arrested for sexual assault. He was identified as William Christopher Claveria. The investigation of the police revealed that the modus operandi of the suspect is to attend to prayer meetings and befriend girls and women who soon become his prospects for sexual assault.
The Canadian police also searched Claveria’s home and found few devices that contain pornographic pictures, videos and photos of his victims. He is believed to have been doing this crime for some time. He is set for a hearing on July 18.
Meanwhile, in another news by GMA, another Filipino who is an exchange student was arrested in Pennsylvania, California for rape. The suspect was identified as Alexis John Dolotina, who is related to an international work program.
Investigations are ongoing regarding his case but no statements were taken from Dolotina as of press time.
These kinds of news about overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) are debilitating and leave negative impact to the Filipino communities. Filipinos should maintain a good record while they are abroad and they should work hard for their families instead of engaging in crimes. – LMI
