Another female Overseas Filipino Worker is seeking help from the government authorities after she was repeatedly abused by her employer.

OFWs are sacrificing their happiness abroad to put food on the table and send their children or siblings to schools. If you will ask them the reason behind working overseas, a lot of them are forced to leave the country to seek greener pasture and give a better life for their families.

However, instead of good news, we hear a lot of bad ones from Filipino workers who were constantly abused and harassed by their employers, especially those working in the Middle East.

This is the same case for a domestic helper working in Taif, Saudi Arabia.

Abused With Every Mistake

Recently, the OFW Kalingawan page shared a story of a Filipina named Joselina Valenzuela Ancheta working as a domestic helper in Saudi Arabia. Ancheta made a recording of herself asking for help from Raffy Tulfo and other fellow Filipinos to save her from the abuses of her current employer.

According to her, she is being abused by her female employer every time she makes a mistake. Last February 14, the said employer hit her with a tube leaving behind bruises on her arms. She was also punched last January because she made something wrong.

Last January, sinuntok nya po ako dahil may nagawa akong mali sa trabaho ko.

Tuwing nagkakamali po ako sobra-sobra po syang nagagalit. At kung ano mang mahawakan nya, ihahampas nya po sakin.

When she asked to leave the house, she was told she needs to pay 5,000 Riyals. This is the OFW’s second contract with the family. Although the treatment she experienced was not good, according to her, she was not abused like now.

Our OFWs do not deserve the abuse. Hopefully, the government can do something for our OFWs in Saudi Arabia.
