Another Overseas Filipino Worker asked help from the famous public service host, Raffy Tulfo, to rescue her from the hands of her abusive employer. Michael, the boyfriend of Filipina domestic helper Jean Ramos, went to Raffy Tulfo’s program and brought a video footage with him as evidence that the male employer is abusing the helper in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Started Last February

According to Michael, his girlfriend told him about the terrible situation since February 1 of this year. The sexual abuse happened three times since February 1.

In the said video, Jean can be seen sitting in her bedroom and taking some rest when the male employer barged in, approached her, and started showing off his private part. In response to this, the domestic helper tried to cover herself and refuse the employer’s action. The offender kept on hugging her, preventing her to escape from the situation.

Like other OFWs, Jean has not yet confronted her female employer about the abuse out of fear that she will make her suffer instead of rescuing her from the abuse. Her action is understandable since there were a lot of cases when the female employer favored the suspect instead of the victim.

No Response From the Agency

Michael also tried contacting Jean’s agency, Hannan International Manpower Agency, to seek help in rescuing his girlfriend from the hands of the abusive employer. However, their numbers were out of reach. According to him, he also called the Philippine Overseas Labor Office where a person named Manny Mortilla asked him to contact the personnel handling Jean’s case. However, he did not help Michael at all.

With the help of Raffy Tulfo, they contacted the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and Marissa Cruz, OWWA’s Advocacy and Social Marketing Division Supervisor, promised to take action and rescue Jean immediately. Raffy also spoke with Jeremy Calangan of the OFW’s agency, who asked him to take action towards the incident. According to Jeremy, they will contact their counterpart in Saudi Arabia within the day to rescue the OFW.
