Other than being one of the sources of news reports for showbiz and political issues, social media also entails videos showing things that are happening around the world. It allows interactions among people from different countries too. A lot of netizens spend time to leave a comment, like, and subscribe to certain social media posts, especially those from their favorite celebrities.
Recently, a lot of Overseas Filipino Workers are using the social media platform Facebook to get in touch not only with their families but also to seek help. A lot of our kababayans working abroad are using Facebook to seek help and ask for immediate rescue.
Three Domestic Helpers
These include a group of domestic helpers who are asking the embassy to rescue them immediately from the house of their current employers.
In a Facebook post by user Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang, three domestic helpers named Raiyana Sahak, Mary Grace Camay, and Hasmia Mamolid Sambutol recorded a video of themselves asking to be rescued. According to them, whenever one of them made a mistake, all three of them will be punished.
Not only that, their employers are withholding their salaries for three months already. All of their mobile phones were confiscated since last October too. They can only contact their families every two weeks and every time they do, their calls are recorded and their employers have it translated to avoid them telling their families about the abuse.
Will Just Pay the Embassy
The domestic helpers also added that they already suffered from verbal and sexual abuse from their male employer. The male employer also told them that they are like ants that he can easily smash.
That did not stop there. The male employer also threatened them that he can do anything and everything to them, even kill them. He reiterated that he can just pay the embassy with money and he can get away with the abuse.
Lahat daw po pwede yang gamin sapin, kahit patayin nya kami.
Kaya kong bayaran pati embahada nyo.
