Since many of our kababayan who are working as Overseas Filipino Workers in Kuwait were given a chance to go back to the country, a lot of other OFWs working in other parts of the Middle East were given hope that they will be rescued from their abusive employers too.

One of the OFWs who was given a chance to live a better life with her loved ones is a sick domestic helper named Divina Gracia Pascua Dijos in Kuwait. She was recently rescued from the house of her employer’s mother after her cry for help on Facebook went viral.

A concerned Filipino who saw her in the Amiri Hospital in Kuwait, Rufyen Mabida (غثز غثز on Facebook) shared the story of Divina.

What Happened?

In the story shared by Mabida, the domestic helper’s legs were shaking uncontrollably. She also revealed that the OFW, unfortunately, could no longer walk.

It turns out that Divina had fallen down the stairs at the house of her previous employer eight months ago. Her condition worsened when she was no brought to the hospital for treatment.

Was She Abused?

It is still unknown whether the OFW suffered from abuse from her employer or if the injury was caused by her previous boss. But the fact that she was not given the right to seek proper treatment is already a negligence in her employer’s part. She was only sent to the hospital with the help of another OFW.

After Mabida asked for help on Facebook, the injured OFW was immediately rescued from the house of her employer’s mother. A follow-up message was posted by the concerned OFW stating that Divina already has a ticket for a flight back to the home country. Even if she had to travel from Manila back to her province, they are still thankful that she will be given another chance to live with her family.
