A domestic helper in Kuwait is now fearing for her life and is suffering from depression because of the loss of her family member.
What is the worst nightmare do you think you experienced? Maybe for some people, it is losing their house or a family member while for others is drowning or being trapped in a dark and small room.
You may not be aware but for many Overseas Filipino Workers, they are living a life like a nightmare in the hands of their employers, who are supposed to guide and shelter them. Although the issue in Riyadh has already been fixed by the government before they imposed a permanent employment ban on sending Filipino migrant workers to the country, especially domestic helpers, there are still workers in Saudi Arabia who are abused by their employers and the number is increasing.
Nightmare in Kuwait
A domestic helper in Kuwait named Phoebe O. Nuezca is asking help from the government to be saved from the hands of her employers. The OFW choose to work overseas to give her family a better life but after arriving in Kuwait, she started living a life of a nightmare.
The domestic helper’s concerned friend, April Mae Ladao, said that the domestic helper is not suffering from physical abuse. Instead, her employer is abusing her by letting her work for several hours with very minimal rest.
Since she doesn’t want to have any problems with her employer and agency, she sacrificed herself and continued working until she finishes her contract. With only two months away from her contract expiration, an unfortunate incident happened to her family.
Domestic Helper Needs Immediate Help
Before she officially returns home, her father unfortunately died. She already asked her employer to allow her to go back to the country immediately but they refused to do so. Not only that, they are also planning to sell her to another employer, instead of letting her finish her contract.
The poor domestic helper is not in contact with her agency. She is calling the attention of the government, particularly OWWA and the embassy to rescue her immediately.
