After the cases of Filipino workers who were physically, mentally, and sexually abused and maltreated by their employers, not to count the number of unexplained deaths, we cannot help but pity, cry and be angry.
Recently, we hear good news from our Overseas Filipino Workers who are happily going home (while others are already reunited) to their families in the Philippines from Kuwait after the implementation of the deployment ban issued by the Department of Labor and Employment and President Duterte.
But not all of our kababayans will be coming home happily to their families. There are still some who are asking help to be saved from their abusive employers. One of them is Evangeline L. Matugas.

No Salary For Almost a Year
In a Facebook post, Evangeline L. Matugas, who’s been working as a domestic helper in Jubail Dammam, Saudi Arabia recalled that her contract already expired last January 20, 2018. However, her employer refused to let her go. To keep her in the household, the said employer did not give her her supposed salary for 11 months.
The poor domestic helper is now asking for help not only to be released from the said household but also to get her salary from her employer.

What To Do If You Are Experiencing Maltreatment?
If you are suffering from abuse, there are different ways on how you can stop the maltreatment.
1. Notify your agency. Inform your respective agency that your employer is abusing you so they can rescue you from your employer’s house.
2. If the agency is not doing anything or refused to help you, get in touch with the Embassy and the Philippine Overseas Labor Offices in your area.
3. Inform your relatives about the incident. Your relatives, on the other hand, can get in touch with the government in the Philippines. There is also the public service show, Raffy Tulfo in Action.
