It might sound like it is part of a scary movie, but it is true: a body of a dead Filipina was found stored in a freezer in an apartment in Al-Shaab, Kuwait.
The body was believed to be kept in the freezer for more than a year. This was uncovered after the Filipino government announced the suspension of the recruitment of Overseas Filipino Workers to Kuwait while in the middle of withdrawing those who are currently working in the country.
Unknowingly Recovered the Body
Security operatives who discovered the frozen body had gone to the apartment to evict the tenant based on a court order. However, when they entered the place along with the landlord and the caretaker of the apartment, they were surprised to find the corpse inside the freezer.
The identity of the victim is still unknown. The government is also waiting for the families to report any family member who has not contacted them for a year.
ACTS-OFW Party-list Representative John Bertiz also confirmed the report.
Yes, it’s confirmed the body is with the police for forensic and autopsy, we are condemning this act to its highest degree!
Submitting for Autopsy
The officers immediately informed their colleagues at the General Department of Criminal Evidences to deposit the said body to Forensics for autopsy and in order to determine the cause and the exact time of death. The samples of the fingerprints were also lifted at the scene to facilitate the investigations.
Meanwhile, based on preliminary investigations, the sponsor of the housemaid was a Lebanese national who was wanted for a series of cases related to dud cheques and had left Kuwait since 2016 along with his Syrian wife.
There were also traces on the body of the deceased OFW indicating that she was strangled to death and tortured.
