Several footages of a former Filipino domestic helper who was forced to go back to the country goes viral after they were posted on social media.

Discrimination and abuse towards our Overseas Filipino Workers of other nationalities due to the difference in gender, race, and job is increasing in number. It is becoming one of the major concerns not only because of OFWs but also of their families in the Philippines.

Most of the Filipino workers abroad usually suffer from discrimination and abuse from foreign nationals in other countries where they are working, but a lot of them are enduring all the hardships and criticisms just to give a better life for their family.

Terrible Condition of an Abused Domestic Helper

Recently, a Facebook user named Aim Nies Nies shared the experiences of Mariel Sindao Diaz (her last name might be incorrect). According to her, the OFW was previously suffering from verbal and physical abuse from her employer. Her madame or female employer would beat her everyday.

There are also times when she was locked in a room for two days and beaten as if she was an animal. She’s been suffering from the abuse for several months already but what happened to her last March 10 was the worst: she was almost stabbed by her employer.

Luckily, the employer’s brother was in the house and was able to let her escape.

Going Home

The OFW is already on her way back to the country. However, since she just escaped from the hands of her employer, she doesn’t have anything with her. She is knocking on our hearts to help her and her family once she’s at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. She doesn’t have money to go back to her family in the province since she was not able to get her salary from her abusive employer.
