OFW in Singapore Survived Brain Aneurysm; Employers Shoulder 4 Million Pesos Medical Expense

Many of us have heard of accidents, tragedies, circumstances of other overseas Filipino workers working outside of the country to support their family. With the recent death of actress Isabel Granda, most of us became weary of how aneurism can affect not only the patient’s life but also the people around him or her.

A Miracle

A Filipino worker in Singapore was able to survive an unexpected attack with a brain aneurysm. She was immediately rushed to the hospital and endured the deadly disease.

Riza Anne Bernabisa, labeled as the “Miracle Lady” because of her fast recovery from being comatose of a brain aneurysm, suffered from the disease while she was on duty. She was preparing her employer’s child to go to school when her co-worker, Jasmin, found her lying unconsciously on the ground. Luckily, her employer, Celine Lacouture, arrived home in time and she was able to rush her to the hospital.

Bernabisa was thankful for how she was able to survive the incident. After undergoing several surgical operations within days, Bernabisa woke up after three days in a coma. She was able to recover well and doctors and nurses are calling the incident as a miracle as they did not expect her to be up soon after her condition.

Immediate Response From Employers

Another great thing about this story is how Bernabisa’s employer rushed to help her without any hesitation with surgery. The first phase of the operation cost 100,000 SGD (4 Million Pesos).

Celine and her husband did not hesitate to aid their employee since life is more important.

I thought she was dying in my arms right in front of me and my children were just next to me. As a mother, I wanted to protect my kids but I have to save a life.

My husband and I decided since we’re still young we can still make money, but we have to save a life that is the most important thing.

Riza expressed how thankful she was to her employers for helping her. She also prayed to God to give her strength.
