Caregiver Abusing an Elderly Woman Caught on CCTV

Domestic helpers or caregivers are very important in the lives of elderly people. Since most elderly can no longer take care of themselves, even by simple eating or taking a bath, it is important to have someone who can guide and take care of them.

Caught on CCTV

However, not all the time, they can take care of their employer. There are cases when these caregivers are the ones hurting the people they should be taking care of in the first place.

A couple from Taiwan reported a 37-year-old domestic caregiver they hired from Indonesia to the police after she was caught on a closed circuit TV camera abusing their elderly mother several times over the course of five days.

The elderly woman, who is already 91-years-old, was said to have needed intensive care because of her old age. She also had parts of her skull removed after a car crash 35 years ago.

According to her daughter-in-law, the grandmother is already weak and bedridden after a stroke and was already using a nasogastric tube for feeding for more than 10 years.

The Abusive Helper

The caregiver, known by the name Shamina, was thought to be helpful and reliable when the couple hired her three years ago to look after the old and sickly lady. However, there were series of cash disappearing frequently so they decided to install some closed circuit television cameras at several spots of the house to get some proof of whoever is the thief.

However, to the employer’s dismay, instead of finding the thief, they find a different scenario: Shamina beating their mother.

The Video

The video showed that the caregiver is hitting the old lady’s head and pulled her legs roughly several times. She also blew her nose on a shirt that she put on the elderly after she took a shower.

Shamina admitted that she hit the old woman. However, she defended that it was just her first time to hit her head and said she had never done it before.
